POLICE OFFICER, NAMPA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Since I have been with the Nampa Police Department, I have remained an instructor in the above areas. I currently have a Master Certificate in Patrol. I tested and was selected to be a K9 Handler in 2016. Since certified I have had the most K9 uses per year. In 2016 I tested and was selected for the Nampa Police Departments Tactical Response Team. My current position on the team is entry, chemical munitions, and K9.

2005 – 2014
DEPUTY, CANYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
From 2005 to 2006 I worked in the Detention Center and then transferred out to Patrol. While with the Sheriff’s Office I was a Field Training Officer and an instructor in the following areas; O/C and Chemical Munitions, Taser, Pepperball, DUI Investigations, Lifeloc, and Intox. I was a K9 Handler for 6 years and a member of SWAT.

• Leadership skills: I push myself and help others to achieve their best. I assist others in learning more about areas they want to pursue. (future K9s) 
• Growth: I am always looking for ways to better police our city. How can I and others use CompStat to help decrease crime and increase positive calls of service.
• Education: I continue to learn more about my profession by attending practical training and reading articles on several different topics related to my specialties. I enjoy teaching new, as well as experienced officers different ways to use tools. I will invite them to train or show them how a K9 can be used or involve them in day-to-day interdiction work.

Outside of work I have a passion for coaching youth sports. For over 10 years now, I have been coaching football and basketball. Not only do I benefit from watching youth grow in a sport and learn valuable life skills, I learn from coaching. I see how different types of communication reach people, not just youth. I have been able to use my coaching skills in the workplace when instructing classes for the Nampa Police Department. I often get the opportunity to share with new officers and dispatchers about an unfortunate event I was involved in while working at the Sheriff’s Office. This again not only helps me work through that incident, I believe it helps new law enforcement personal prepare for when they encounter an incident like that.
